This article features Stephanie Blakley of Fog and Fae. Stephanie is a local artist who creates jewelry with crystals and wire-wrapping as her medium. Stephanie’s booth was full of different crystal inspired pieces, including necklaces, earrings, and chokers of numerous sizes, shapes, and colors. In this article, Stephanie discusses her inspiration, how she started the process, and her favorite crystals. Stephanie was shy during her interview, but her work speaks for itself through its beauty and craftsmanship.
Nicholas: What is your inspiration?
I would say, it’s not like I have an inspiration. I definitely feel a lot of passion for it. The first time I wire wrapped, I thought ‘This is what I am supposed to be doing.’ And I love Crystals. I have always loved crystals. It may be connected to my childhood or nature. Being a fire sign, there are certain crystals that would benefit me more. So like, a citrine is my favorite, it’s a fiery stone. It intensifies the fire in me. A dark stone will do well to settle down my fiery emotions. You can pick stones for your sign.
Nicholas: What age did you start creating?
I have been making things from the beginning, but wire-wrapping I started a year and a half ago. I started with hemp jewelry,
I am located in Shepherdstown, and I work at the Lost Dog. Some of my jewelry is in the shop Creative Procrastinations.
